Remembrance Day Assembly

On Thursday, November 10th a group of staff and students put together a Remembrance Day Assembly for the school community. Students from Divisions 1, 2, and 3 worked as MCs, techs and ushers. Divisions 1, 13 and 14 performed and Divisions 12 and 13 prepared bulletin boards of art to decorate the gym for the assembly.

Volleyball

Thank you to Ms Marie and Ms DeBou for providing a volleyball program for our grade 6 and 7 students. Students are learning skills and playing games 2 lunchtimes per week. There has been very high interest and we really appreciate the time teachers are taking to provide this opportunity.

Kindergarten Registration

Richmond School District 38 is excited to welcome kindergarten registration applications for children born in 2018, and turning 5 in 2023. These children will begin kindergarten in September 2023. Online registration opens on November 1, 2022. Please visit our website http://www.sd38.bc.ca/kindergarten for more information about our online registration process, required documents, important dates and FAQs.

Families are encouraged to register any time during the Priority 1 registration period (November – January) for the best chance at attending their catchment school. All registration applications received any time during the Priority 1 registration period will receive placement decisions by February 3, 2023.

Instead of in-person information evenings this year, we have posted short videos that provide our new parents with information about the registration process, English Language Learner (ELL) assessments, and District Program Options – Early French Immersion and Montessori. These videos are available in English and Mandarin. Please view the videos at http://www.sd38.bc.ca/kindergarten.

Finally, there will be a Kindergarten Information Evening for parents of students with additional support needs on ZOOM held on November 16 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. A link to the Zoom meeting will be posted on the Kindergarten Registration website closer to the meeting date http://www.sd38.bc.ca/kindergarten

Learning Updates - December 14th

At McKinney, we are introducing a new way to access your child’s school information directly online. Between November 7th – 21st, we will initiate the MyEducation BC PARENT PORTAL which will allow parents and/or guardians to access attendance, term grades, report cards and other information on their child(ren).

Each parent/guardian will have their own separate account, and can view the following:

· Attendance Information

· Contact Information

· Student Demographic Information

· Published Report Cards

· Transcript Information

In November, you will receive an email from “sysadmin@myeducation.gov.bc.ca” with your login ID and temporary password. Instructions on how to log in and navigate the Parent Portal can be found on our school website. Access the Parent Portal at: https://www.myeducation.gov.bc.ca/aspen/logon.do

• The first login must be done from a workstation, laptop or computer. Do not use an iPad, tablet or cell phone. After the initial login, you may use any device to access your parent portal account.
• Enter the login ID and password provided in the MyED BC email
• The first time you log on to your account you will be asked to change your password

Account Problems?

Accounts have been created using email addresses previously provided to the office. If you did not provide your email address or need to update your address, please send an email to mckinney@sd38.bc.ca.

If you have issues logging into MyEd please send an email to the District MyEd Support Team at the following email address: MyEdParentPortal@sd38.bc.ca In the subject line please put Parent Portal, and in the message, include the following: Student’s Full Name, Pupil #, Parent/Guardian Name and email address.

MyEducation BC is a secure student information system used in most school districts in the province of BC. Security is guided by the rules and regulations of the School Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). Richmond Christmas Fund

We recognize that many of our families celebrate Christmas, and we know there are several other celebrations that families practice too. In an effort to support families who could use a little more support, please see the attached flyer that helps parents receive assistance through the Christmas fund organized through Richmond Cares Richmond Gives.
